Hello Colleagues,
We are rapidly approaching our immersion weekend in Bear Lake, only 25 days until we arrive at Bear Lake. Our wonderful colleagues on the UTRID board and Immersion Weekend Committee are volunteering their time, creativity and ingenuity to make this experience satisfy the needs of both our communities professional nourishing and growth, as well as our social and emotional nourishing and growth.
We have talked extensively about the challenges our community of interpreters are experiencing and the needs we have to know we are not alone. And to be surrounded by fellow interpreters and have live, real and, hopefully, meaningful connections. We know we can’t force that, but we can do our best to provide safe space, and a culture that supports connection with self-care and with each other.
We know the mansion offers unique spaces and challenges alike. We have done our best to mitigate the challenges (Hello, sleep spaces and our added individual options to counteract that). As well as leaning into the delights and play the large theater room, hot tub, pool and other amenities hopefully affords us all.
Although our kitchen isn’t mighty our food committee is, and we will have a smorgasbord of yummy things to enjoy. Including selections for a variety of dietary restrictions/options (make sure and list those in your registration).
We have discussed what we believe the current needs of our community are and tried to provide moments to treat yourself, including daily morning restorative yoga, and hopefully a few additional self-care moments and spaces.
We will also have workshops, including our keynote presenter Dr. Curt Radford. As well as a workshop facilitated by Clint Behunin–First Impressions: Improving Connections with Consumers (Honoring the work of Teddi von Pingel). Also, look for three more presenter announcements in our next email.
We are excited to offer out of the box activities focused on unique ELK development and brown bag discussions leaning towards diverse ways other professions and perspectives can extend to our own (For a list of the weekend’s scheduled activities see below).
For those of us who are nervous about fitting in and finding connection we will have activities set up that will allow natural engagement and give us all a place to start while intrepidly adventuring into new connections with colleagues and hopefully new friends.
It won’t be the same without you, please, register today for the most amazing experience. Come make your virtual connections live!
