Interpreting In a Dynamic Social Landscape | January 9, 2021

Happy New Year!  We are starting this year’s UTRID Professional Development offering with a bang!  Please join us for “Interpreting in a Dynamic Social Landscape” presented by Marcela Lopez on January 9th from 9a-12p via Zoom.

To prepare for the workshop, Marcela would like to collect a variety of resources that we can use to study more about diversity.  Even if you aren’t planning to attend the workshop, you can still fill out the survey here:  https://forms.gle/TCQbdcFvnHquTa6c9.  You can submit as many times as you need to cover all resources you are using.

I look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

Is It Me or You? Recognizing the Demands of Crucial Interpreting Moments.

Tempers are hot, the client isn’t satisfied, and I feel discombobulated! How to take accountability and conversational skills and apply them to my interpreting work. This workshop will take the concepts learned in Crucial Accountability and Conversations and adapt them to working with clients as an ASL interpreter. When to look inward for the solution or how to communicate what I see to continue effective communication. Jed Patton who is an interpreter for over 15 years and a certified trainer for Crucial Conversations, will explore those difficult interpreting moments and tools we have to navigate when an assignment can get a little hairy. Through guided discussions we will implement the concepts into real world situations. By completing the workshop you will be better prepared to recognize the part you play in situations and in a caring way address the crucial issues.

Purchase your ticket (you must be logged into your member account to see the reduced price). After payment is confirmed you will receive your ticket (your payment receipt can also serve as your ticket for admittance).
